By creating an account and using our platform, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our User Behaviour Policy. These terms apply whether you are signing up as a Dossy User, a Family or Friend User, or as a Volunteer.

Account and Platform Use

  • Account Creation: You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and keep this information up to date.

  • User Roles:

    • Dossy User: Primary users are typically older individuals.

    • Family & Friends User: Connected to a Dossy User for communication and support.

    • Volunteer: Engages in virtual volunteering with Dossy Users.

  • Acceptable Use: You agree to use the platform only for its intended purposes and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.

User Behaviour Policy for Dossy Platform

Our platform hosts distinct interactions between volunteers and Dossy users, as well as among Dossy users and their private family and friends groups. Below are specific guidelines to ensure all communications remain safe, respectful, and effective.

1. Interactions Between Volunteers and Dossy Users

  • Professionalism and Empathy: Volunteers must exhibit professionalism and empathy, being punctual, attentive, and supportive during calls.

  • Training and Conduct: Volunteers must follow the training they receive from Dossy, which includes upholding user privacy and handling sensitive topics with care.

  • Privacy and Confidentiality: Volunteers must not share personal information about Dossy users outside the platform. This includes specifics of conversations or user data unless authorised by the user for specific care or emergency purposes.

  • Content Sharing Restrictions: Volunteers are tasked with safeguarding the confidentiality and integrity of their interactions. Strictly no screenshots, recordings, or sharing details of video calls on social media or any other platform.

2. Interactions Among Dossy Users and Their Private Family and Friends

  • Respect and Privacy: Interactions within private groups should be conducted with mutual respect for privacy. While the environment may be more informal, the confidentiality of the conversations must be maintained.

  • Supportive Communication: Ensure all communications are supportive and enhance the Dossy user's well-being. Avoid invasive or coercive behaviours.

3. General Guidelines for All Interactions on the Platform

  • Reporting Issues: Report any inappropriate behaviour or policy violations to Dossy support immediately.

  • Adherence to Community Standards: All users must adhere to Dossy’s community standards, prohibiting offensive, harmful, or illegal content and conduct.

Compliance and Enforcement

  • Actions for Non-compliance: Violations of these policies may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent bans, depending on the severity.

  • Commitment to Safety: We enforce these guidelines rigorously to protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of all users and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account details and all activities under your account.

  • Communication Responsibility: Dossy is primarily used for video calls, so you are responsible for the tone and language used during these interactions. All communications must be respectful and appropriate to the context of connecting with family, friends, and volunteers. You must ensure that your interactions uphold the decency and respect the Dossy community expects.

Legal

  • Liability: Dossy is not liable for losses or damages arising from your platform use except as mandatory laws cover.

  • Indemnification: You agree to indemnify Dossy against all claims arising from your platform use, as permissible by law.

Termination and Modification

  • Termination: Dossy reserves the right to terminate or suspend your access for non-compliance with these terms.

  • Modification: We may modify these terms and policies with prior notice, and your continued use of the platform signifies acceptance of the changes.

The laws of Victoria, Australia, govern these terms, and you submit to the jurisdiction of its courts.

  • Our Content: The content that we provide, including the software, databases, user interfaces, and other technologies essential to Dossy's operation.

  • By using Dossy, you grant us a non-exclusive license to use your content. This includes leveraging your tagged interests and preferences and call data to support our matching algorithms and monitor progress towards enhancing social connectivity.

  • We record call data for caregivers and volunteer providers. This data is crucial for tracking their effectiveness in combating social isolation and loneliness among our users. It helps us refine our services and ensure that our offerings meet the intended goals of improving user experiences and outcomes.

  • Your content must adhere to our community guidelines and not contain or promote illegal activities. It is also expected to respect privacy and confidentiality, maintaining the high standards of decorum expected on a platform dedicated to social support and volunteerism.

Data Usage and Privacy

  • We treat the data we collect, including tagged interests, preferences, and call data, with the utmost respect for privacy. It is used strictly to enhance user experience, improve our service offerings, and achieve our mission of reducing social isolation.

Interactions with Other Users

  • General Users: You are solely responsible for your interactions with other Dossy users, such as family, friends, and older individuals. We do not conduct background checks on these users. Exercising common sense and maintaining personal safety in your communications is essential.

  • Volunteers: All volunteers must undergo a thorough verification process, including Dossy training and completing a national police check in compliance with National Volunteer Standards. This ensures a safe and secure environment for all users interacting with volunteers on the platform.

Fees and Payments

Services purchased are subject to the pricing listed at the time of purchase as described on our website or in the app. All purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by law.

Changes to the Terms

We may occasionally update these Terms. Changes will be posted on the Dossy App and indicated at the top of the Terms when they were last updated. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
